“Women’s Ministry centers on meeting the spiritual needs of Christian woman and helping them to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. Women’s Ministry exists to serve women and to teach women how to minister to others. It is action based and focuses on living a Godly life with guidance from the Bible. Women’s ministry dates back to Biblical times where women, such as Sarah, Deborah, Ruth, Mary, and Martha, had an influence on the development of the early church. A prominent scripture which Christians use as a Biblical precedent as to the purpose of women’s ministry is Titus 2:3-5. “Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” Women’s ministry took root in that aspect of scripture and has grown to feed women spiritually all over the world.” (Taken from Wikipedia)
As iron sharpens iron, in true fellowship, Christian women sharpen one another’s faith and stir one another to exercise that faith in love and good works, all to God’s glory.
Sunday morning isn’t enough to feed the spirit and promote growth, spiritual and otherwise. WOW strives to foster relationship growth by planning monthly social events geared to the interests of adult women. One such event is a monthly time of coffee and fellowship, 9:00 at the church, on the fourth Saturday morning of every month.
WOW also plans bible/book studies quarterly. Our current study, which ends on April 4, is over Priscilla Shirer’s The Armor of God. All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you’re tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this seven-week study is for you. The Enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God, more than merely a biblical description of the believer’s inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory. We’ll meet Wednesday evenings at 6:30.
